how i work

When it comes to wedding photographers, brides-to-be have a pretty large pool to wade through, and it can be tough to know which one is going to be the best fit for you and your wedding day.  Why should you choose me?  Well, it’s simple.  If you want your wedding day documented thoroughly and completely, by a well-trained and highly experienced photojournalist, look no further. I've been a staff photographer at the Columbia (MO.) Tribune, Kansas City Star, The Topeka Capital-Journal and the Lawrence Journa-World. My work has appeared in regional and national publications for the past 30 years (also see www.earlrichardson.com). I’ve also played the role of father-of-the-bride twice myself, and after being on the other side of the lens with my daughters, I have some personal insight into what moments a bride and her loved ones really want captured on the big day.

I offer a variety of service levels to accommodate another important factor in your wedding planning: the budget. I realize that just as with the picking out the flowers or the cake, cost is a factor when choosing a wedding photographer.  Just keep in mind that the bouquet or the wedding cake won’t last forever, but you will always have the photographs of your wedding day. If you want affordable photography without sacrificing quality, I can work with you to make sure the most important moments in the day are captured beautifully and within your budget.

If you want to invest in more comprehensive coverage, you can essentially own me for the day.  I love it when I get to capture an entire wedding day and tell the whole story, from start to finish.  At that service level, I become a fly on the wall and document all the preparations and details that lead up to the vows, like your dad cooking breakfast for the bridal party, the trip to the salon, or the guys killing time before the ceremony.  I don’t leave until you leave the reception.  Many of the brides I’ve worked with have chosen that service level, and it provides you with some very funny and touching moments that you might not otherwise think to document on your wedding day.  For a slightly higher investment, I can capture your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, too.

My real talent is in the day-in-the-life style of photojournalism.  If you’re looking for someone who shoots only traditional wedding photos, like lots of stiff group shots and posed pictures, I’m not your best choice.  If you want a set of vibrant images that look just as at home in a magazine as they do in your home, I’m the clear choice.  Most of the brides I work with choose to do a few group and posed pictures, but the emphasis of my work is on capturing the real, honest moments that make up a wedding day. So, whatever your wedding day entails, I document it in an authentic, artistic way.

The Authentica Investment:

The photographs of your wedding day are really the only tangible things (other than your spouse and your wedding ring) that you can touch in the days and years after your wedding.  So, it makes sense not to skimp on this valuable service.  Great wedding photography shouldn’t be viewed as an expense, but as an investment.  Invest wisely, and you will have stunning images telling the unique story of your wedding day to be passed down from generation to generation.  Authentica Images provides quality wedding photography by a photojournalist with 25 years of experience in newspaper, magazine and agency photography. I’ve been trusted to document presidents and popes, and everything in between, and you can trust me to capture the significant moments on your wedding day.  I truly believe that a full day of wedding photography is a wonderful and worthwhile investment, but I also offer half-day packages as well.  Full day packages start at $2,700.  Use the Contact tab above to get in touch with me and get complete 2012 pricing information.
